‘The Fourteen’
A new Trophy to the club for 2009, The Fourteen has been donated by Fiona, Emma, Amy and Henry Henderson in an effort to encourage competitive racing among the increasing in size GP14 fleet. The Geographical features at Newburgh Sailing Club makes it extremely difficult for a GP14 to be competitive against a Solo, therefore ‘The Fourteen’ is born. Rules for this trophy are derived from the ISAF racing rules with one or two adjustments for the club. Reflective of the short courses sailed, and, in an attempt to level the playing field, and encourage the fleet onto the water.
The trophy itself is a quality item, an eighteen year perpetual plaque for wall hanging,
manufactured in quality wood with keyholes, all polished brass plates and decorations,
for the inaugural year only a bottle of Johnny Walker black label whiskey is being
offered to the winning crew. This trophy is open to Newburgh Sailing Club members
only. More details available in the clubhouse or from Henry.
One important ruling
is (1 boat is a race) If 1 boat races on its own, it will take a third place. Two
boats racing will take second and third. Three or more boats racing then results
as normal, first, second, third, fourth etc.
